I've been a dog lover my whole life. I grew up dog deprived and so resorted to walking the neighborhood dogs and enticing strays to hang around, keeping them well-fed on whatever I could sneak from the refrigerator. I studied the breeds and read every dog book I could find, practicing what I learned on the dogs I walked and the strays I fed. There was something very rewarding in being able to communicate with a dog and have him respond.
Training is all about communication and relationship; whether it is a matter of simply managing your dog in your home and everyday life, behavior modification to eliminate problem behaviors, or preparing him for dog sports or shows, you must help your dog understand what you are asking of him and understand what he needs from you in order to succeed.
