Loren was dog-deprived when she was growing up as the youngest of five (her mother didn’t want a “sixth child”), and so resorted to walking the neighborhood dogs and enticing strays to hang around, keeping them well-fed on whatever she could sneak from the refrigerator. She studied the breeds and read every dog book she could find, practicing what she learned on the dogs she walked and the strays she fed. There was something very rewarding in being able to communicate with a dog and have him respond. Loren got her first dog, an Airedale Terrier, in 1992 while she was living in Russia after completing her Master’s Degree in Russian. She trained that dog up through the levels of obedience, Schutzhund and protection, and has had Airedales ever since. Loren abandoned her translation career in 2016 to become a professional dog trainer. She owes her strengths in dog training to all of the dogs she has owned and trained, as each dog teaches us a new lesson, but also to the professionals she has interned under and worked with. She is committed to helping people live better lives with their canine partners.
